The Alaskan Klee Kai

What exactly is an Alaskan Klee Kai?

The Alaskan Klee Kai is a miniature version of the Alaskan Husky. Developed by Linda Spurlin to be a companion breed, this amazingly beautiful, fun-sized dog has similar characteristics to that of the full-sized Alaskan Husky. They are full of energy, love adventures, and enjoy lots of snuggles with their family. Being very intelligent dogs, they do best when given lots of exercise and mental stimulation.

They are very affectionate and loving dogs, great with kids, but can be wary of strangers and new situations. This trait lends itself to a wonderful family watch dog, however it can hinder new friends from getting to enjoy all the love and affection this particular breed is known to give. Early and consistent socialization is essential to a happy, healthy, and friendly Klee Kai that everyone will get to enjoy for years to come.

While they love adventures with the family (hiking, running, playing fetch, bird watching, etc…), they do not like being alone. As companion animals, they thrive as part of the family. They love being included in whatever activity you’re doing, from gardening, to hiking, to napping. Separation anxiety is common in this breed, however, the degree of anxiety will depend on the disposition of the individual dog and can be minimized with proper training.

The Alaskan Klee Kai, although very attractive, is not for everyone. Just as with any dog breed, they have specific needs that may or may not match your lifestyle. For those who are able to accommodate the needs of this breed and provide an environment where the Alaskan Klee Kai will thrive, know that this miniature husky will bring you more joy, more laughter, more love, and more affection than you could have ever imagined. We are excited to share this wonderful breed with you and to see how your life will forever be changed, as ours was by the beautiful Alaskan Klee Kai.
